The power of women in domestic production!

Happy 8 March International Working Women's Day! We know the value of women's participation in the workforce and we celebrate the 8 March International Working Women's Day of all our female employees, business partners and suppliers!

As a company that draws its strength from domestic R&D and domestic production, we wanted to introduce you to the women who design, produce, support and sell Multitek products this March.

We attach importance to the employment of women in the workforce and define it as our primary duty to provide a safe, equitable and sustainable working environment to all our employees. We employ women in all departments, from sales support to R&D, from accounting to technical service, especially in the field of production. We know that the profession and the industry have no gender, and we work with all our strength, men and women, to provide added value to our country.

According to the February 2022 publication of TUIK, the labor force participation rate of the population in Turkey was announced as 52.6%, while the female labor force participation rate was 34.2%. This rate shows that 21 million 304 thousand women are not legally included in the labor force in Turkey. 18.6% of 11 million women in the labor force work as unpaid family workers. As a result, only 9 million women in Turkey are working as wage earners or casual wage earners, employers or self-employed.

When we look at the sectoral distribution, 60% of working women work in the service sector and 22% in the agriculture sector. The remaining women (1 million 620 thousand women) work in the industry and construction sector. Production facilities have a male-dominated structure in Turkey as well as in the rest of the world. According to research, the number of female employees in production facilities in the United States is about one-third of the number of male employees. At Multitek Elektronik, half of our production team consists of women.

One of the difficulties experienced by working women today is to put the responsibility of all housework on women. While the woman continues her duty at work, her shift does not end when she returns home, and she is expected to complete her household chores. Although women actively participate in the working life, the accepted gender division of labor continues at home and most of the housework is done by women.

Among the difficulties faced by women in business life are unequal salary policies, unequal promotion systems, the decrease in the employment rate of women who are away from working life due to childbirth, and the difficulty of women in finding a job in male-dominated sectors. Although there are various legal regulations for the presence of women in all areas of business life and for the establishment of a sustainable order for the economy of our country, the targeted structure has not yet been achieved due to the deficiencies in implementation.

We are aware of the problems experienced by working women in our country and in the world, and we support all steps to be taken to solve them. We know that the steps we take today will create a more livable, equitable and just order for future generations.

Ece Demirkol – Board Member

It is pleasing to observe that the number of women in our sector is increasing day by day, but it is not enough. One of our most important goals is to create a reliable working environment where women's voices are more comfortable and louder. Occupation, industry, task has no gender.

As of 2022, the ratio of female employees to male employees in our company is 35%, and we aim to increase this ratio to 50% in the coming years. The position of employed women is as important as the increase in the number of women. In particular, we want to increase the number of women working in the executive staff.

Semra Yılmaz – Production Department Assembly Chief

I am working as Production Department Assembly Chief at Multitek. When I first started the job, I had no technical knowledge, but today, as the team chief, I follow the assembly and packaging processes of dozens of products meticulously. In our team, the whole team works with great effort without any discrimination between men and women. Quality is our top priority, we immediately report even the smallest scratches we see on the materials and deliver them to the quality department.

Sevda Gökhan Görgülü - Customer Relations Team Leader

Since 2020, I have been working as the Customer Relations Team Leader at the Multitek brand. As a team, we carefully examine all complaints, suggestions and requests, and take action in the fastest and most constructive way. Despite the fact that our company operates in a male-dominated sector, I think that it contributes to the socio-cultural structure of the country by providing job opportunities without making any sexist discrimination. As a woman who gained her economic freedom in this environment of trust created by the Multitek brand for us, it is one of my biggest goals to inspire women who are still treated as second-class citizens in society because they could not achieve their economic freedom.
